Urban VeganLakeview: 1605 W. Montrose (773) 404-1109; Lincoln Park: 1550 W. Fullerton (773) 472-8208. Vegan Thai food. The Lakeview location is much smaller than the Lincoln Park location, so if you’re going with a big group you may want to consider going to Lincoln Park.  The Lincoln Park location is closed on Mondays.


Arya Bhavan – 2508 W Devon (773) 274-5800 – All vegan Indian restaurant. Has buffet on the weekends.

Green Zebra – 1460 W Chicago Ave (312) 243-7100 –

Ground Control – 3315 W Armitage (773) 772-9446 – Several vegan options.

MANA Food Bar – 1742 W Division (773) 342-1742 – Ask your server for a vegan menu. Features dishes from all over the world. A bit pricey, but a nice place for a special date. I recommend the Sesame Noodles.


Delicious Cafe – 3827 N. Lincoln Ave. (773) 477-9840 – Delicious has an all vegan food menu and several options for dairy free milks; however, they offer dairy milk for coffee drinks, as well, which is why they’re in the vegetarian section and not the vegan section.


Udupi Palace – 2543 W. Devon (773) 338-2152 – Vegetarian South Indian cuisine, some dishes contain dairy (cheese or yogurt), so ask your server before you order.


Quesadilla: La Reina del Sur – 2235 N Western Ave (773) 235-8807 Closed from Sundown on Friday until Sundown on Saturday in honor of the Sabbath – Vegetarian taqueria with soy-based meats and vegan cheese options. Pretty much anything on their menu can be veganized, plus they have a juice bar!

Middle Eastern

Bon Bon Sandwiches – 2333 North Ave. (773) 278-5800 – Vegan Pho, ramen and sandwiches.

Yummy Yummy – 2901 N Broadway (773) 525 – 6677 – Several vegan options made with seitan, tofu or soy gluten.


Paper Moon Pastry – 3523 W. Fullerton Ave. Hours are 9-5 Fri-Sun. Many of their vegan items are marked, but ask, because some things are “secretly” vegan.

Ice Cream:

Heavenly Gelato & Ice Cream – 2662 N. Sawyer Ave. (773) 342-0427. Hours: Mon – Thurs 2-10p, Fri-Sat 2-11p. Heavenly usually has at least 4 flavors of Chicago Vegan Food’s Temptation ice cream on hand, yum!

iCream Cafe – 1537 N Milwaukee (773) 342-2834 Build your own soy ice cream sundaes and shakes. Not all flavors and mix-ins are vegan so be sure to ask before you order. They also offer soy pudding but I have yet to get the specs on it.

Miko’s Italian IceBucktown: 1846 N Damen; Logan Square: 2236 N Sacramento. The majority of their flavors are vegan, not sure about the chocolate or chocolate chips as I’ve never ordered them.


Boiler Room – 2210 N. California (773) 276 – 5625 Build your own vegan pizza with Daiya cheese and seitan.

Dante’s Piza –  3028 W. Armitage (773) 342-0002 – Unlike many of the other places offering vegan pizza options, Dante’s only has one vegan pizza, but it’s not your typical vegan offering since they use a nutritional yeast mix for cheese instead of Daiya or Teese and no faux meat.

Dimo’s Pizza – 3463 North Clark Street (773) 525-4580 or 1615 N Damen – Get a whole vegan pie or choose from a variety of vegan slices (make sure to ask for a punch card so you can get your 11th slice free!).

Mista Pizza – 2921 N Broadway (773) 698-6688 or 134 N LaSalle (312) 368-3000. Cracker crust pizza available with vegan cheese.

Santullos – 1943 W. North Ave. (773) 227-7960 – Vegan pies and sandwiches made with Daiya and Upton’s are available on a daily basis. Vegan slices available on Mondays and Tuesdays.


El Nuevo Mexicano – 2914 N Clark St. (773) 528-2131 – Offer several entrees and dessert (look for the green V).

90 Miles Cuban Cafe – 2540 W Armitage (773) 227-2822 – Have some vegan options with tofu, faux meat or mushrooms.

Sultan’s – 2057 W North Ave. (773) 235-3072 – Clearly marked vegan options, include falafel sandwich, vegetarian dinner plate, spinach pies, lentil soup, rice, salads, breads, etc.
